Marc Jacobs: 2 brands, 1 man

Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton (Loïc Prigent, 2007) follows Marc Jacobs, head designer of his own brand and Louis Vuitton in a brilliant and exciting documentary. Jacobs was made creative director of the luxurious French fashion house Louis Vuitton in 1997 (and left in 2013) and we see him create their first ready to wear collection, a new and thrilling time for any company.

We are able to see a true artist at work, expressing his creativity and talent as he designs and creates garments and accessories for his Ready to Wear catwalk shows.

The fashion industry is notoriously hectic and this documentary does not hide this view in any shape or form. From sleepless nights, to meeting tight deadlines with literally half an hour to spare, the ateliers and staff are really pushed to their limits. It's a real eye-opener to see just how much care, work and passion goes into the garments.

I personally loved seeing the whole design process, from Jacobs' creative mind at work, brainstorming with the other designers, selecting the fabrics and colours to seeing the finished pieces on the runway shows.

Everyone seems to love Marc Jacobs, and it's not hard to see why. His enthusiasm and passion in everything he does is infectious, and most importantly, this documentary is inspiring.

I would recommend this documentary to everyone.
