In Vogue: The Editor's Eye

After thoroughly enjoying The September Issue, a documentary showing the creative process of a Vogue magazine coming to life, I was looking forward to watch In Vogue: The Editor's Eye (Bailey and Barbato, 2012), which takes a closer look at the past and present editor's of the world's fashion bible. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, I found it one of the most inspiring and entertaining films I have ever watched.

I particularly found the start of the documentary film amusing, where the simple question, "What is a fashion editor?" was asked to an array of fashion gurus. This seemed like a perfectly simple question however it baffled each and every one of them.

So what is a fashion editor?

"The people who are responsible for the fashion images are the fashion editors," - Anna Wintour

It was a great insight to the life and role of an editor with interviews with Grace Coddington, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Tonne Goodman, Polly Allen Mellen, Phyllis Posnick, Camilla Nickerson and Babs Simpson. Each and every one of then bought something new and exciting to Vogue, and some of their work is just breath taking.

Vera Wang, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman, Marc Jacobs and Hamish Bowles feature in the film, reminiscing and sharing on their collaborations with the top fashion editors and photographers.

110% recommend giving it a watch.
